Hey all,

I have been having an infuriating issues with the Mail app on my iPhone. When composing a reply to an email the text is not wrapping properly which results in the words as I type scrolling off screen before finally hitting a point and the carriage return occurs. The amount of scrolling varies with each email as well. It is like the app is not handling some formatting in a previous reply properly. Is there a setting I can change? (and yes, I have tried the increase quote level setting to no avail)

I made a screen capture showing the problem but the file size is too large to upload from my phone.

Edit: I uploaded the video to YouTube (duh) here:

I think the width of the quoted text determine how wide your reply is. So if the sender's email used hard coded returns at the end of each line or contains wide graphics, your reply email won't wrap until the end of the line as determined by that quoted message.

If that is the case it is a very poor way of handling it. I have ZERO issue when replying to the same email in the Gmail app and the text wraps just fine. It is pretty asinine that the native Apple Mail app cannot figure out that, hey, my screen is only this wide, I should not allow the text being entered to exceed that width so the user can see the complete text of what they are typing.

What's more, it does it in both portrait and landscape orientation.

I really would rather not switch over to the Gmail app for my mail, i prefer to use the native apps as they are well integrated into iOS, but this is getting ridiculous!

Well apparently I am either the only one this happens to or the only one it annoys. I have submitted a bug report to Apple although I doubt much will come of that.

I have submitted a report as well. I was told that it would be referred to Apple Engineering.... They told me the same thing with an issue that I have with my Apple Watch Series 5 and the fitness app crashing and that was over a year ago and I followed up last week and am awaiting a reply yet again.... I switched to the Microsoft Outlook App.
