Remember The Milk native app hits the App Store

For you RTM users out there, the team has just released a native Iphone app. It's free and I assume you have to be a Pro user ($25 per year). I just installed it and fooled around for a few minutes and it looks great. Location awareness,lists, smart lists, search, and more. I've been using ToDo for awhile and it will be interesting to see which of these two wins out in the end.

One word... Wow!

It sucked though that I had switched to Toodledo in the meantime and there is no easy way to import your tasks back into RTM but I don't have all that many right now so didn't take too long to enter them all back into RTM and boy was it worth it!

Move over Beejive IM there is a new holder of the most polished native iPhone app crown! It is clearly evident that RTM put a LOT of effort into getting this app just right, it is so smooth to use and switching between the different views is almost instant, launching the app is pretty fast as well however syncing doesn't seem quite as fast as Toodledo.

Overall I am really impressed by the RTM native app!

Brilliant. Superb. Outstanding.

This is quite simply, without a shadow of a doubt, no questions asked, THE best task management app in the AppStore, or at least that I've tried (including Appigo Todo, Things, SmartTime etc). Nothing else comes close.

Thanks for sharing! I am not big on To do apps, so I got a free one to hold me over. I couldn't see what the big deal was. THIS app is awesome though. I signed up for the 15 day trail, and I will almost certainly do the $25 subscription for the pro account.

I have it subscribed in iCal, so I can easily keep track when I am on my computer. I set up text alerts also. the alerts automatically make it worth it. I always thought it was pointless to have a to do app on the iPhone, when I had to remember to check it everyday.

Yes. I don't have Pro, and I didn't have a web account before I downloaded, and it worked.

Having purchased and used both Omnifocus and Things, I never quite felt that either one of those apps really gave me what I was looking for. Compound that with the fact that i'm a PC user and therefore didn't have the desktop version of OF and Things. Fast forward to now, and the RTM iphone app. I believe I have found the perfect app for me. The iphone app is certainly very well thought out and very polished and not buggy at all (OF would crash all the time). I also love the syncing with the web account and even when you're offline, you can still use the native app so you're not completely tied to the web app.

Well i wasted quite a nice bit of change on OF and Things but they are being deleted off of my iphone and i'm upgrading to the pro version of RTM.

really, I use toodledo personally, emails me my tasks every morning, its very nice

Wrong, you pay $10 for the ToDo app.

Also, from what I can see of the screenshots, ToDo isn't location aware, doesn't allow for "tags", and most importantly has no "alert" type functionality. With RTM, you can setup reminder alerts for upcoming tasks that are coming due via email, IM (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc), phone sms text message, or via twitter. You can also receive a list of upcoming tasks daily which i believe ToDo does as well

You are trying the same argument that others who were too cheap to pay for beejive tried. You ultimately get what you pay for and if you want to pay less then you will receive less. That is the case with ToDo. It simply doesn't seem as "full featured" as the RTM native iphone app (of course i'm basing this on the ToDo app description and screenshots). If you want the best, then i suggest you use the RTM iphone app with the RTM pro account (you can do the free 2 week trial first..........completely FREE).

I've started a thread on this already but they've added contexts and tags to a build thats coming out, Im a beta tester. Also, good point on how you have to pay 100 bucks for it, I completely forgot about that. And with toodledo you can be emailed every morning your tasks due for that day; I use it and it works very nicely

For some reason it isn't showing up in the store unless you click the direct link, even in the desktop version of the store.

I just downloaded it and after creating a free account online, i logged into the app and there was a message saying it would be free for 15 days.

How does that work? Does my account expire in 15 days, forcing me to pay to get an account?

Can i use the app beyond the 15 days w/o having an account?

As stated in the app's description (quite clearly at that) the app requires a pro account of Remember the Milk so if you want to continue using the app you would need to upgrade to a Pro account ($25/year). However your tasks would still be accessible on the RTM website with just the regular features available.

You're getting a proven multiplatform task management system in, as was said, probably the best designed application available for the iPhone.

Well if you are getting what you need from Things or OF, then i don't see why you need to ask.

As for me, the fact that i can access my data not only from my iphone but also from any web browser on the planet is enough of a differential to justify the small cost. I am not tethered to any specific computer and the data on that computer, so even if i was a MAC user I don't think i would want a desktop app that I synced with and held my data. I much prefer the web. I it was password info or financial data, that's a whole different story since I would only want that on a computer, however we are simply talking about tasks. That plus, the extremely well thought out UI.

To show I can offer an objective review; I enjoy two things.

You can use a hyperlink in the task to launch MobileSafari and it shows Nearby tasks based on location.

I 'need to ask' because I AM educated and seek education and I don't rest on my laurels; rather I weigh any new opportunities that arise to gauge whether they may be a viable solution for my productivity. This is what separates us from Neanderthals.

Good for you Mr. "I am educated". Since you are so highly educated and by implication, "smart", did it not cross your mind that you could give RTM a try since it's free to download and you could use it in conjunction with a free 2 week trial on their site? just a suggestion, though i'm sure you had that all figured out and that somehow you were just testing the rest of us not so smart people
