maybe a weird question, but why would you want airplay to send youtube to your ATV connected tv? wouldnt the youtube app on the ATV2 be better?

Not if you'd already gone to the trouble of finding and starting the video on another device (like the iPhone). If you Airplay it, you basically only have to do that once.

I've not used YouTube on the ATV2, but it must be a horrible searching experience with the little remote.

Also, using Airplay then a group of people can all find their own clips and show them without fighting over the ATV control. I've never been a big YouTube user, but had a fun hour the other day watching YouTube clips which we were taking turns in streaming from our iPhones/iPads.

Hey, my family uses it this way too! My wife and I had been building up a bunch of Youtube favorites long before we had an Apple TV. We had never really shown each other our collections though. So the other day we sat around and had a blast just taking turns sharing our Youtube favorites with each other to our Apple TVs from our iPhones with Airplay. It was one of those moments where you really appreciate Apple's integrated system and ease of use. My wife isn't really into technology at all but she really enjoyed it.

Exactly, honestly Youtube browsing on the native iphone app is kinda ****** too. When my Firefox can output youtube videos to ATV, circumstances will be cash.
