I just downloaded and installed Navigon Mobile Navigator and I really like it. However even when I am using it with Belkin's iPhone compatible charger with line output the screen will dim during navigation.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there anything that I can do to avoid this?

Thanks.

This is a known issue with some charging accessories (link to Navigon FAQ): http://faq.navigon.com/opencms/inte...q&topicId_0=121&topicId_1=170&topicId_2=10714

That said, I have a Griffin Autopilot w/ AUX output and it doesn't dim when I'm using Navigon.

In addition, just make sure your Auto-Lock is set to "Off" when you're navigating (just in case you hadn't already done so).

Ya, it doesn't lock. The screen just dims. I've observed that it does not happen with the Griffin adapter, I have that one in my wife's car.

Ya, I had read that, the weird thing is that it says it could happen with adapters that are not certified for use with the iPhone.

The Belkin adapter though is certified for iPhone use.

Yet, my wife's Griffin adapter which is NOT certified for iPhone use, does not have the problem.

It's just bizarre.

I've had this happen once or twice, al I do is a hard reset on the phone and it's not a problem.

I use the supplied iPhone charging cable connected to my power inverter in the car. The model I have happens to have a pair of USB connectors, so I don't even tie up one of the power plugs. That keeps my son happen while he's playing on his PSP or DS.

Oh...and it works great for charging the iPhone - especially while using MobileNavigator!

:p

I'm pretty happy with the Belkin solution seeing as it gives me line out and power through the dock connector. It also has a wireless remote that's great for changing tracks, etc, without fumbling for the iPhone.

I guess I will just have to hope that Apple fixes this in 3.1.
