According to their response to a question about FreshMaps for iPhone on their Facebook page, Navigon stated "We will offer map updates within the next regular update but cannot promise FreshMaps at the moment."

Looking forward to that! No time frame given for the update.

That will be nice, I'm looking forward to that too. I love Navigon, but there have been just a handful of times when their maps are not correct...hopefully a map refresh will fix that. I wonder what they will charge for the map refresh..?

I read that reply to mean that the maps updates will be included as part of the next (free) update to the software, but that they will eventually offer the FreshMaps subscription as part of an in-app purchase. I guess we'll have to see though.

I read it a bit differently. I read it as FreshMaps (i.e. the branded, regular updating of map info) wouldn't be added as a feature any time soon but that they would have a one time update for the next Navigon update...but I expected that update to have a cost associated with it. Sure, the previous updates were free (except for the traffic & visuals update) but with it being a map update I would expect to be charged a decent amount, similar to updating a stand-alone PND. Who knows at this point.

I hope it's not that expensive, but I am expecting a charge. Prior to Navigon I owned a standalone Garmin Nuvi. I never updated the maps as it was about $80-, and that just seemed too expensive. I'm hoping the map update is not more than $25-, but who knows.

My wife has my Garmin Nuvi 760 now that I only use Navigon on the iPhone. I bought her the lifetime updates for $85 from Amazon. Seems like a fair deal to me to get 4 updates per year for the lifetime of the product. I agree to money in that ballpark for a one time update would be steep.
