So the car icon on the top left of the screen only shows up when I just have the map open ( clicking on show map, and not routing. It does not show up when I am routing to a destination. I can go to options and view the traffic info but no icon, and color change of the icon. Is this normal?

I have questions about it too. Like, how is it crowd sourcing live data from Navigon users as well as polling traffic data when I never see any data activity on my connection when Navigon is running?
As to your question, I have similar questions. The traffic icon doesn't even show up on my maps now, even though the traffic is activated and I can manually go in and look at traffic with no issues.
I'm just basing this on the last few days of usage, but the icon only seems to appear if there are nearby/relevant traffic issues (not necessarily related to whether you're in map or routing view). Agree that better documentation is needed. But I'm pretty impressed thus far with how up-to-the-minute the alerts are and how savvy the re-routing is.
That would make sense, will pay more attention to it to see if that is the case. I am also impresses with the software, I just wasn't sure if I was using it right. Quick question, if this is the case why does the traffic icon show all the time when u are just in the map (non routing... Clicking show map).
