I used Navigon for about 1.5 hours straight. During this time I received no phone calls and probably 10 push notifications. My battery drained down 47%!!!!
Just curious what others are experiencing...

This sounds about right for most GPS apps. You have to remember that you probably have your screen on, the app is running (CPU!), you have your cellular data chips going as well as the GPS chip maintaining a connection with the satellite and reporting your location - that is a HUGE drain on your battery.
I personally have an iPhone/iPod adapter that's part of my stereo in my car, so it's always charging - but dropping 50% or more over the course of an hour sounds very accurate when using a GPS app (in fact, using Google Maps with Location Services/GPS on during that same time span with the screen always on will yield similar results).
It would suck if you used your GPS to get somewhere and when you got there you had to make a call but had a dead phone - basically, the moral of the story is: invest in a car charger!

and not to hijack the thread, is there a particular charger that is recommended for use with the navigon/iphone combo? i have the griffin powerjolt, and if i am running only navigon (as opposed to navigon/iphone combo) my screen goes dark and eventually turns off, forcing me to slide to unlock. I read the navigon manual and they said a 'small number' of users are experiencing this problem, and they suggest users invest only in 'apple certified' chargers..not sure what that means..since to my knowledge apple does not manufacture a car charger.
any ideas?

Is your iPhone's auto-lock set to never?
