I have the latest update for this app on iPhone 3GS 3.01, and it rarely ever finds a GPS signal. I have the phone sitting in clear view of the sky and with wifi on, yet all I get is simulation mode. Is there a trick in getting this app to recognize satellites?

Try this...
First, reset network settings: (settings, general, reset, reset network settings) then set your iPhone to Auto-lock at "Never"... then open the iPhone Maps app... hit the triangulate button in the bottom left corner... let it search until the blue dot pulses blue. it'll do this even from inside your house, just give it time. Once it does that, change your Auto-lock back to your time preference if needed and you should get a lock using Navigon. If not, I'd think about taking it in to be exchanged at the Apple store if I were you.

I have had five replacement 3gs phones and only 2 of them had a Properly functioning gps. While the others would find a signal it would be difficult to get one even with a clear view of the sky. The refurb phone I have now gets a signal inside my house. Try recalibrating but your beat bet is take the phone to apple and have them replace it.
Any one know if they will be implementing a google search feature. I know they haven't even updated traffic live for US, but I think the google search is a key POI search feature. I find the Navigon POI search annoying and difficult, but don't get me wrong i love the app
I wish they'd add that search too. But I am not having problems with my JB'd 3G S on 3.1.2 with the latest Navigon update.
Just to clarify something incase newbies read this you cannot aquire a gps signal in your house you need a clear view of the sky. The reason an iPhone locks on to your location when your indoors due to the fact it uses agps which is assisted gps. This means your iPhone uses your ip address issued by your ISP to track your location if your using a 3g Internet connection the blue dot will usually be over your local cell tower with a larger circle.

Thats not true it doesn't use your IP. It uses a database of wireless connections around you.
