iPhone NC Settings and SB Settings

I have both of these installed because I like NC Settings because it just added the LTE toggle plus the clean look in the NC. SB Settings is nice because I could easily see the free RAM, access to additional toggles and the tweak SB Profiles.

Does running both affect battery life significantly? It seems that most people on here run one or the other. I'm just trying to remove a lot of unnecessary tweaks so that I could recover some battery life.

Well as of the most recent release of NCSettings (1.7-1, from Feb 28th), its author (@JamieD360) says he doesn't have time to continue developing the tweak. This is mentioned in the changelog where he says "I no longer have the time to maintain this tweak. I will ensure future firmware compatibility but that's it."

I'm personally a fan of NCsettings more than SBSettings because it's simple and lightweight and does all I need it to do. SBSettings has more features (i.e. other apps can add their own toggles, etc) and will inevitably see continued development. That said I will continue to use NCSettings so long as it continues to work.

I prefer the cleaner look of NCSettings I also don't feel the need for the advanced features of SBSettings. It's too bad the developer won't continue working on it.

If you don't want to use both you can use NCSettings for the toggles and SpringPrefs for NotificationCenter to see the system information including free memory.

Or if like me, you're only interested in free memory to detect any tweaks that might contain a memory leak, NCRam is nice & clean, to go along with NCSettings. As for the NCSettings developer ceasing work on future releases, that's a real shame, as it was a nice tweak. Hopefully another dev picks up where he left off, by the time the iOS 7 jailbreak comes out next year (IF).

Thanks for the input everyone. I still can't let go of either app at this point. Each one has it's benefits so I guess I'll just take the RAM/battery hit and live with it.

My phone seems to be working better now though. After updating both Auxo and Winterboard I haven't seen any app crashes yet(knocks on wood).

headcase: thanks for the recommendation with NCRam but I decided to be even more RAM aware and have the RAM usage in the status bar via SB Settings. It's getting crowded up there but it saves me a trip to the NC or SB.

I'll keep experimenting and report back.

On a side note, sometimes I wonder if all these tweaks are worth the trouble in the end. I feel like an endless beta tester. If I can just get my phone to stabilize I think I might stop adding tweaks.

Yeah, its tempting to keep trying all the latest tweaks, each time a new jailbreak comes out. But the good news is usually after a few weeks, the tweaks become pretty reliable, and the phone ends up pretty stable in the long run. And then the INVERSE becomes the issue... such as the dry spell before evasi0n came out for jailbreaking iOS 6, where you just wished there was some new tweaks to play with on iOS 5.1 ;-)

LOL. I totally feel you man. This can get addicting. I find myself installing stuff just because I want something new. Then I get pissed when it gets buggy. It's a viscous cycle we live in.

But I gotta say the jailbreak developers are pretty resourceful. Some of this stuff is so useful it's a shame it's not baked into iOS.
