I wore it for a week and decided the band was not for me. Unfortunately, I have a very small wrist. By the time I adjusted it to fit I felt that there was just too much hardware, and not enough band showing.
It was simply a matter of looks vs. utility, and my concern over looks won out. On medium, to large wrists I think the watchband would look a great deal better. The picture below is the band adjusted for my wrist, and illustrates my point.
Don't get me wrong, the watchband is rugged, comfortable, and adjusts in length easily. The magnetic mechanism is very strong and reliable. I had no fear that the watch would fall off my wrist once the Fidlock system was mated correctly.
The Fidlock system on the watchband was different than the one on my Defy Bag, which is metal vs. the band's plastic hardware. The engage and disengage systems are different. I do understand that the Defy bags uses a much more expensive metal Fidlock. So expense, the weight of metal vs. plastic could be a factor here in design.
The action to release and engage the Defy Bag Fidlock is easier to operate, but then again you do have to balance the watch on your wrist while engaging the watchband's Fidlock mechanism. I got the knack of it very quickly.
Note, I did have one amusing event with this magnetic clasp system. While eating dinner and watching T.V. my fork disappeared. I searched on the tabletop to no avail. I then found the fork's handle "magically" and magnetically attached to the wristband's Fidlock system. My spouse was very amused!
