Hey I have an at&t pantech link with a 3g sim card in it. My friend just gave me his iphone 2g. Now my current plan the internet is blocked. Could I use my current sim card on the iphone and have it work? And could I also just use the wifi connection instead of paying $30 a month for media and data?

You will need an iphone specific SIM to get it to work (IIRC, free regardless). However, as soon as AT&T recognizes the device on the network, they'll add a data plan to your account. You can't avoid that part.

You don't need to purchase one, just go to your local store and tell them you need a SIM card for an original iPhone. They're free. You'll just have to give them your number so they can program it.

one more thing, i cant tell them that i do not want the media and data plan. It automatically gives it to you?
