Need A Desk/Cart For Future Macbook

I have a very small room. So I am looking for a small cart or desk preferably black, white, silver or clear. The space is only 37 inches wide and around the same depth. I would like to be able to fit my two ipods docked on it as well as speakers. Anyone have any ideas? Or if you have a desk(whether it fits my needs or not) and know where you bought it please share! Post a picture. Thanks.
 
I don't have one, but if I had the dough I'd be getting an eNook. You'd have to mount it yourself (and it costs $399-$449), but it sure fits the bill for trying to save space.

You've got 37" and it's width is 35.25" :cool:

Ikea is really hard to beat....especially for the price...the legs are even height adjustable

Here are some nice ideas for small spaces. I know these are pricey
especially Ligne Rosset but I was researching this kind of thing for a friend
a few months ago and I thought I would pass these on.

One thing I had thought of (but never told anyone :eek: ) is to take a look
at kids furniture if your space is small. Pottery Barn and Ethan Allan have kids desks. Just a strange idea, the desks are probably too small.

I never said I wouldnt cover full shipping costs plus gas or whatever reasonable expenses the person would have.

No I am in Ohio. Pittsburgh is only 2 hrs away but none are in stock. Well I checked both NJ stores and neither have it. But the Long Island store does. But Im guessing thats not one of the two stores.

My guess would be that it's out-of-stock most places, which is why it wasn't available online. It's hard to believe it would never be available online (but who knows?), larger desks of the same style could be ordered.

If that's the desk you like, you might want to call them directly to see if they know when it'll be available online again.

Or it might not be a really popular item so they only put it in the biggest markets?
 
Another IKEA Desk

I have the wicke desk from IKEA and absolutely love it. At it's widest, it is a little over 38", but at its narrowest it is only 27". I wasn't sure how exact your measurement was. It currently supports my 15" PowerBook (which it complements nicely), an alarm clock, a lamp, and lots of random junk. The shelves are adjustable so they could be used for your speakers very easily.

You're right... I would guess that the 37" is the length of one of the sides rather than diagonally across the front. So that should make the width across the front about 52.3". I don't know if your space would allow that to work or not.

Ive seen those and they would work except the wall it would be against goes about four feet and then angles. Maybe Ill try some rearranging to get some space. This one here would probably be the best fit if I rearranged.

I have this desk from Staples.

Lovely glass top and only 34" wide, goes together with only an allen wrench, very strudy and has a cheap price.

I even use this monitor stand for my Rev E 15.2" Powerbook

It raises it off the desk, you can even type from it, very sturdy, even lowers the temps a bit

Of course I bought a regular usb Logitech keyboard and Logitech V270 bluetooth mouse for it.
I use this Powerbook for 100% of my Grad school studies.

Seems to meet your "black or silver" and space (I'm assuming) needs.

One thing you probably should consider is whether you'll be using a separate full-size keyboard with your MacBookPro. I'd recommend it if you're setting up a desk only for your notebook. If you don't have a separate keyboard, you may find that the desk height is too high to comfortably type on the keyboard (assuming you put it up whether the monitor is in the picture).

Actually this thread is pre-Imac decision. Ill be using the desk for the intel imac(which I will partner with an ibook) i will be buying instead. Thanks for your help!
 
Anthro fit System.

I would highly recommend Anthro's fit System desks, and they make them in 24", 30" and 36" widths which would suit your size constraints very well. I have a 60" with a base shelf and additional overhead shelf right now, and am preparing to order a second one. They're rock solid, look great, and you can get the surfaces and bars in a variety of colors.

I decided on this one, took me quite a few phone calls to find one though. They were out of them online and in the cloesest four stores to me. I will be driving about a half hour to pick one up.
