I have a 24" imac and I have a printer and a hard drive that both use the firewire 800. Does anyone know of a HUB out there to help me out. I have seen USB 2.0 Hubs but I do not need those.

yes, an epson r1800

Okay maybe I'm missing something, but I'm curious... do you really see any difference between running a printer on Firewire 800 vs. Firewire 400 vs. USB 2? Firewire 800 certainly seems like overkill. Our 44" DesignJet at work runs on our ethernet network (not gigabit) which is slower than USB 2, and even the largest files we send there transfer really fast.

Maybe save yourself the $100 on a hub and run it over USB?

Yeah....save the money for now and see how the printer does over USB, unless you find your printer is often finishing the print jobs before you send the next one to it.

EverythingHerePlus.com carries 5, 4, and 3 Port FireWire 800 IEEE 1394b hubs for use with new iMacs, Macs, and other FireWire 800 applications:

Five (5) Port FireWire 800 Hub Repeater
FireRepeater-800 Pro FireWire 800 IEEE 1394b Repeater Hub 5 Port

Four (4) Port FireWire 800 Hub Repeater
FireRepeater-800 Pro FireWire 800 IEEE 1394b Repeater Hub 4 Port

Three (3) Port FireWire 800 Hub Repeater
FireRepeater-800 FireWire 800 IEEE 1394b Repeater Hub 3 Port

They also stock 12VDC 3A power supplies for the above FireWire hubs, FireWire 800 9 to 9 pin cables, FireWire 9 to 6 pin cables, and FireWire converter plus that go 6 to 9 pin and conversely from 9 to 6 pin.

I agree that the HUB is an expensive option for a printer connection. I doubt you will see any degradation by hooking up your printer via USB 2.0.

Have you considered the possibility of daisy chaining the printer? Just look for 2 FW800 inlets on the printer. One would go to the Mac, the other to the next device in the chain.
