I would like a app to catalogue and search my Book collection (and even suggest new authors!).

I currently use Delicious Library on my Mac. I know they did an iPhone app for a while but pulled it at the request of Amazon. I have over 1500 books already catalogued so the app must be able to import my current data.

I have looked on the app store but cannot find what I need. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Try Item Shelf.

It's not that slick looking, but works.

Or Bento. But the former is a lot like Delicious Library

So why is THIS allowed in Item Shelf:

- You can read barcode with iPhone's camera, and search with Amazon. (You need macro lens for iPhone 3G)

But DL had to pull their app? Because they aren't as big as DL? They aren't doing with with Amazon's knowing it?

I don't own DL (we are a "Readerware" family) but i'm not happy with Amazon for not allowing you to have a list of books on your iPhone. Really irked me...

Stevearm, thanks for pointing out Item Shelf to me it looks good, except there appears to be no import of existing data. I have emailed the developers to ask if it is possible or due in an update.

I was typing up a post to suggest pocketpedia with the Mac client Bookpedia. It might do what you want with regards to the import capability. However I popped over tot heir site so I could post you a link and just discovered that it too is listed as being pulled at Amazon's request. That sucks. both it and Delicious Library were showing great promise for managing book, CD, DVD and I think game collections. Hopefully something can be worked out at some point.

I use Bento to keep track of databases of things I own so that may also be a way to to. however you would also need the Mac based Bento application to do the import and then to sync with the iPhone based one. All of them worked that way including DL and pocketpedia.

Good luck.

A.
