Need a Job at Garden State Plaza Apple

Hey everyone,

I just graduated high school and need a summer job. I really hoped to work at the Apple Store at Garden State Plaza in New Jersey (my local store). I applied online and still have gotten no response, it has been around a week and a half or so. I really need this summer job, and I am an avid and knowledgable Apple product enthusiast. Can someone please tell me around how long it takes to hear back, let alone get a job. Also if there are any ways to boost my chances of getting one and getting one asap.

Unfortunately, you've probably already missed the hiring season for the summer (because of the iPhone launch). I'm sure most stores already did all their hiring so they would have people in place for the launch, but I could be wrong.

You can always call the store and ask to speak to the hiring manager.

Unfortunately it's not exactly the best time to be looking for retail jobs. It may be that they simply don't need anyone else. Keep looking round whist you wait to hear. You'll find something providing you're not too fussy, and Apple will still be there on the run up to Christmas.

Thanks all, Im going to try to call in to speak with the hiring manager, they said to call back at 12. So I will tell you how it goes.

It's always best to call/walk in when yuo know they aren't going to be busy. Even if a manager doesn't really feel like interviewing someone or isn't even looking to hire someone, if they aren't busy at all your chances will greatly increase.

Update: I called in again at the time the sales rep told me to. The manager wasn't there, but they said he would call me as soon as he gets in. I'll try going to the mall as well. See what I can do.

Update: I called in again after recieving no phone call from anyone at the store. An employee, most likely a mac specialist, picked up and told me to hold for the manager. The manager was too busy and once again I left a message, and once again I have no call back. Anyone advice?

Physically go to the store, don't call. But when they aren't busy, which means you are out of luck at the moment because of the iPhone.

They are launching the iPhone today (closing from 2 to 6) you are about zip point last on their things to do.

Call them mid part of next week, unless you want to piss them off for bugging them incessantly.

Never try and get a job by phone. Dress nicely, be well groomed and ready for work. Then go there in person.

Fer gosh sakes, stop phoning Apple! - spend your time looking for another job instead. This one is a snowball's chance, man.

I personally never recommend putting the responsibility on the hiring manager to call you back. He is probably rather busy right now and he will become irritated if he has to call someone back, especially if he really doesn't need anyone else right now. A lot of times, retail stores don't really need anyone new, but if you impress them, they might be willing/able to find a position. I agree with Scannall; dress professionally but don't overdo it and go talk to the hiring manager in person.
