Anyone got a LOUD version of the SMS tone for the incoming? Or ANY loud SMS tone at all? I tried a few from Cydia, however when i enable it in winterboard, nothing happens to the incoming. i dont care about outgoing at all, just very very hard to hear it from my pocket...

Ive been experimenting and i havent been able to find something that doesnt clip out the speaker...

thanks in advance

there is a limit to how loud your tone can be without clipping the speaker.
im not exactly sure what you're looking for...

I was referred to www.zedge.net by another member of this forum and found lots of good sounds for email and SMS that I'm using now. They just need to be converted to .aif/.caf and installed via SSH.

It was hard to narrow down the selection since many of
the file names are misleading, but I got pretty good results just by searching something simple like "beep." That got me a lot of nice simple alert sounds, which is what I prefer. Some of the files I liked were "beep_smstone," "beep_twice," "double_beep" etc. Hope that helps!

Is the "Chime" alert that comes stock not loud enough? That thing scares the hell outta me every time I get a text. I can always hear it in my pocket though...

I use the stock "Electronic" sound. It's so loud it scares the hell out of me too.

Also, now that I have the 3GS (I had the 1st gen before), my speaker is louder (but the other speaker doesn't seem to work......)

;)

Hi, do any of you have the stock "Horn" SMS sound and stock "New Mail" sound louder? I've been trying to make them louder but just don't know how.
Thanks.

my sms tone is smsexplosion, its epic went off in class and everybody herd it. heheheh. its in cydia, and then just apply using winterboard, and then go to settings sounds, and select electronic to use it.

There you go, excessive sound engage!

O M G thank you for this...i didnt know how to use this till now...

noticed that some of them didnt work, but a few of them did...

if its just 1 tone, it will always take 6?

You can replace as many as you want from 1 to 6.

i know i can copy them over...

im talking about the ones that i download from cydia...when i enabled it in winterboard, it randomly changed one of my tones, i also had a package that changed all 6...

my question is, if i have just 1 tone in winterboard, which will it select in the list when i enable it?

sometimes before you download it in cydia it will tell you, sometimes its random and you'll just have to go through all the sounds.

I have always just overwritten (via SSH) the stock SMS .caf files, so then I know which one is which.

Never used Cydia or WB for custom sounds, have custom voicemail, custom SMS, etc.
