im in bit if a quandry.

I sold my old 2014 5k retina imac earlier this year and right now im living off my iphone Xs max and soon the new ipad pro but i need a mac to do heavy video editing and streaming

With the new ipad ill have no real need for a laptop but if they are cheeper then ill get one as a temp

I was really counting on apple to refresh the imac line this year and they dident so im caught between a rock and a hard place.

Should i get a baseline 27 inch imac 2017 and just use that and sell/trade it in when they eventually refresh the imac line next year or should i save money and get the new macbook air or baseline macbook pro for now and wait till march-june and save up?

Im hesitant about getting a mac mini because if i do ill want the best one out and that with a decent 4k 27 incj monitor and keyboard and mouse puts me in the same price of the imac 27 inch baseline, even more.

Whats your advice?

Your best bet for a long-term computer is to go with the Mini, but curb your enthusiasm about how you configure it.

Get perhaps the i5, 512 GB SSD and 8 or 16 GB RAM. A decent but reasonably sized 4K monitor for $300 or so. Then upgrade accessories later as you can afford them.
