Need a quick Idiot's Guide...

Guys, my MacBook only has 3gb disk available so I don't want to sync stuff that I have downloaded directly to my Apple TV. What I want to do is this:
simply sync all my photos from my MacBook to Apple TV and then set up syncing so that I only sync from from MacBook TO the Apple TV and not FROM the Apple TV to my MacBook (not enough space for all my Apple TV content) Can someone do a quick idiot's guide for me?

EDIT: After reading it again I answered a different question then you were asking.
