Need a USB 3.0 PCI card

Hi

Can anyone advise me on a USB3.0 card for my 2009 Mac Pro (pref 4 port).

I have a mixture of various drives so it would need to be able to read them all as I've heard some cards will only read data from certain manufacturers.

CalDigit has two different cards, one is a pure 2-port USB3 card, the other one is USB3 and eSATA 6G card. They both work great.

Lacie and Sonnet have their USB3 card too but only support lion at this moment and limit the driver to recognize their own devices. Sonnet's card can see different devices too but not yet support mountain lion yet.

your best bet is still caldigit's one.
 
I have and love the Caldigit FASTA-6GU3.
You can connect and mount a drive via eSATA or USB 3.0 with the system running (no reboot necessary), and you can boot your system from a drive attached through the card as well.
 
Kinect?

Does anyone know if any of the aforementioned cards would work with an imaging device (e.g. DSLR or Kinect)? We tried CalDigit's USB3 card to no avail (we contacted support and they specifically said it doesn't support imaging devices).
 
Will the caldigit ones work with ML yet as of Sept 13? I heard most PCIe USB 3.0 cards still wont work with ML.

it works but ... if you connect an external HDD via USB3 and the Mac is going into into sleep mode.

What happens shortly after system wakes ?

I get the "device improperly dismounted error".

Caldigit claims it is the nature of PCI-E USB 3 cards, at least for them. I use it for an external SSD dock, so I just ignore the error and reseat the drive. As long as I get these sustained write speeds for HD video, I'm happy. It is sort of a PITA though, actually just a nuisance, but keeping a Mac Pro updated is full of headaches no matter what.

You do have the option of changing your energy saver settings to prevent it though.
 
Lacie released a new driver package as well. Is it the same problem with their PCI-Express card ?

Anyone ?
