Hi folks, my graphics guy gave me these two logos to decide upon.

They're for a semi-pro concert choir, singing mostly pop with the occasional rock, soul, and musical tune thrown in. Average age of the singers (and of our target audience) is 35. The logo should go on posters advertising concerts, maybe next to a photo.

EDIT [additional info]: I didn't make them, I was asked to make decision, and am at a loss. I forgot to mention that the group is Germany-based (albeit the English name), and the "n" that looks like a "u" is absolutely fine (pun intended) with German handwriting customs.

This is A:

C.

I mean, you should still work on it.
There is and idea in the A logo, but it is not there yet.

However, I like your handwrited letters (in the first one).

For A, the N in "fine" looks like a U. I like that it is on musical staffs. It is very "fun".

I like what the color brings to B, but the black font seems really formal.

Tough decision. If they can't be changed, B. But if A's N was more "n" shaped and had maybe a splash of color , it would be perfect for a "mostly pop with the occasional rock, soul, and musical tune thrown in" choir.

Disclaimer: I'm not at all a design expert. And this is just my personal opinion.

If you want honest opinions (which I assume you do) then I have to say that I don't think either of them is great. I mean, neither of them is terrible, they're both fully okay, but you have some nice beginnings in both of these and I think you can make something better.

Between the two, I prefer the greyscale one, but it has major readability problems, and has too much of an amateurish quality with the wobbly lines. If you clean up the lettering by making it less script-like and getting rid of those extra superfluous strokes on the letters, and also straighten up most of the stroke lines in the whole design then I think you'll have something much nicer.

Just my non-expert opinion.

With the two shown I would have to go with A. I think it could still use a little refining, as some above posters have said. Mainly straighten out the staff lines and cleaning up some of the edges on the text a little bit.

One of the big problems I personally have with B is I kept reading it as Fine Music Art instead of Fine Music Art. That to me not a good thing.

Keep working with A and I think you can make it work.

does the first one say FIVE art music? looks like it to me. Between the two my vote is for the second.

Neither are bad concepts and could be elaborated on in a few ways.

A) I like the dots of the i's hitting the lines like sheet music, but it needs to be a little more obvious. Have you thought about replacing the letters with notes?

B) I'm not sure why, but this logo concept seems a bit 80's :p
The "M" in "Music" needs to be changed, and get a different font for "Fine Art" as well. I believe I've seen this font before, and it's becoming quite recognizable.

I voted "A" but think that it still has a ways to go. It should also be developed into a logo that is just black (in addition to the two-tone one you have now).

Additionally, you should have your graphics guy develop a landscape version of it for use when the portrait one just doesn't fit.

I see the point. I'm in a jam with these too. They can't be redesigned, only chosen. I have to go with A, but I prefer the san serif font used in B. The script in B is hard to read, especially with the brown.

I vote for you to get a new graphics guy. If this is the best he can come up with, then he is not very good.

I chose A, but again, as others have pointed out, it needs development.

I think it's a good idea sketch. This needs to be turned into a logo.

If your graphics guy can't do this, I agree with SnowX above

A has an idea in it, B is some styled type.

I think A is the best idea for your company, but I think B is a better format for your logo - read into that what you will ...

Like others, I think both have possibilities, but not there yet.

A. Character spacing is hurting big time, and the dot on the 'i' is over powering. I only see the 'dot'/ Same with the dot over the 'i' in Music!

B. The script for music is almost there, but not sure I like it condensed as it is. The other words in the other font are terrible and have no relationship the the script word 'music'!

B is a boring stereotypical logo. Its like it was made from someone who knew how to make a good looking logo without putting any effort into it, or just couldnt think of anything. It looks nice but there isnt anything special about it, it could easily be used for anything since its so cookie cutter.

A is much better. It makes me think of neon signage in a jazz club. It definitely suggests music and is pleasing to look at.
