The buyer of a 400Mhz Tibook that I sold on Ebay just wrote me complaining of a screen issue where the screen is black on startup. The laptop chimes but the screen is black. This can be temporarily resolved by hitting the reset button.

I had encountered the same issue just a couple of times in the many years I owed the powerbook, but dismissed this as a "old powerbook hiccup" and would fix it with a reset. Is it possible that because I put the computer to sleep instead of shutting it down, I never encountered this issue?

Is there anything I can do? Before I offer him a refund, I'd like some advice on possible solutions.

Thanks!
