Need Advice: InDesign to Quark

I have a new Mac Mini and would like to have apps to write. I have a G4 with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign CS3. I do not have the discs, the Adobe came with the G4, I bought it used. They cannot be installed on the Mac Mini.
Since then I've created many documents with InDesign. The G4 is slowly dying, sometimes it just doesn't power up. Soon I will no longer be able to access the documents.
I do not want to pay monthly to Adobe to use InDesign and am wary of people that sell older versions on ebay and Amazon. Also, most Creative Suites are expensive and won't run on Mavericks 10.9. I don't need the whole package. Illustrator I don't use. I only need InDesign, Photoshop (for simple projects).
What if I bought an older version of Quark (maybe 4.0), could I convert my InDesign CS3 documents to Quark without problems? I know the opposite works from Quark 3.2.

CS3 works with Mavericks:

Find your serial (it may be in the About page in the Help tab), and find a trial copy of InDesign and whatever else you need, and activate it.

You should be fine.

Sorry, I don't have the CS3. It was on the G4 when I bought it.

Create PDF files of all the documents, this will likely solve most of the issues. For documents, that you think you will actually reuse content for, make sure you save the actual content bits, text and graphics. I am willing to bet that since you are not a professional, most of these things are going to be relatively small with relatively few assets, in this case, spend the few moments to re-layout the documents in Quark. I am also willing to bet that most of these things could probably be laid out reasonably quickly in Pages as well. If you're a professional, and are targeting press and or for other professional reasons, especially to printers/press that you do not own or control, suck it up and get on the Adobe bandwagon. The cost in problems otherwise are going to dwarf the cost of CC. Heck if you're still too price conscience but still need the high end stuff, rent it at Kinko's etc. It shouldn't take very long to reconstruct a layout in iD if you have the assets and an idea what it is that you're doing, and are redo in something that you got approved in another document type.

Quark 4.0 is from like 1999. Won't even work. I agree, you may just need to get on the CC train. It can save you money, if you are doing this for a living. If this all is just for fun, pages or something like that.
