Need Advice. "Macbook Air? or Macbook Pro?"

Hey,
I need some advice before purchasing either a Macbook Air or a Macbook Pro. I want either one of them to fit in a JanSport bag for School, and I need the power... at least thats what I think and I have an iMac 24" 2.8GHZ w/ 4GB of ram as my desktop comp...

This is what I mainly do:
Safari, Photoshop, word!, powerpoint (office stuff), movies here and there..., iPhone tweaking, web designing, MSN, torrents, keynote, handbreak, vmware fusion, final cut (once & a while), itunes.. subs subs subs...etc..

but im also kind of an audio junkie.. & I want performance would the air be suitable or a pro? so lost.. & I know there will be a redesign for MBP's soon but how long? should I wait? ughh... :S

Im so confused. What should I look into.? I know that I can get the macbook air 1.6 80GB HDD, for: $1400 CAD BNIB, and the MBP 2.4 BNIB for $1700.

What do you guys think?
I had several 17" high res macbook pro's in the past...
I want a comp to fit in a JANSPORT BAG.

should I wait if somehow you convince me to get a MBP?... would waiting help? redesign... how long?....Advice please + I wont be getting one until september so I want to know my price range.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I personally LOVE my macbook air. But I don' think it suits your needs. Get a macbook pro

Definitely get the macbook pro. The 15" would probably fit your needs of size while having enough power to run all of your stuff (the air will die in things like final cut; its meant for portability not power). Also make sure you get the education discount, it's ~$200 on the pro.

Definitely MBP. You won't be able to handbrake any DVD's without the optional external optical drive.

You already have an iMac so you should get the sexy light MBA since it is going to be more of a secondary computer for surfing the net and doing things on the go. MBP is bulky to be a secondary computer IMHO!

Get a MacBook. It's cheaper and does everything a MBP does with a smaller screen. It's a waste of money for you to get a MBP.

Since you have an iMac do you really need to use all those intensive apps on a notebook? If so, get macbook or MBP, if you do not, get the air.

I was able to fit a Macbook Pro 17" and an Air in a JanSport Bag no problem so they both fit.

MBP would fit you better since you want to do photoshop on the go.
