Hello,

My dad has since a month an iPhone (my old 13 PM) and in I believe April my mother can get a new mobile phone. She always got an Android device which mostly gets only two years of updates and she always says: it works it's okay.

But since she needs to learn how a new phone works, even as it's the same and because of the fact that iOS is safer I think it would be a good idea for her to switch over too.

What would be a good phone for her to get in April? iPhone 15, iPhone SE 4 if it's out?

Does it need to be largest display possible? Does she only take and receive calls, take pictures, and use text messaging? Does it need to be brand new iPhone? Does it need to have large storage capacity? I recommend a used 64GB iPhone. Your mother won't know the difference. In my experience, my older family members certainly don't... and 64GB storage is way more storage than they will ever use.

Hi @Bigwaff,

No a smaller display is fine, for example of the current iPhone 15. She takes sometimes a picture, she makes calls and uses apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook. She plays a game called Candy Crush but that is all.

64GB is enough for sure, even as she will get access to iCloud Family.

Personally I wouldn’t give anyone over the age of 45 a device with a small display when larger ones are available. At the time I opted to buy my mom a 13PM. I also migrated her away from Android.

She doesn't need such a big screen, but she need to get away from Android. 🙃

Fair enough. Maybe she’s being bashful 😆 I suppose it’s what they are currently used to display size wise. I also kept her Google photos as they were but disabled backup of it to Google photos, and synced her iCloud inc photos with my family account. Good luck.

Thanks, I'm happy that my dad got already an iPhone which makes it a bit easier to get my mom to Apple too.

I just need to wait now.
That’s fortunate, both my siblings and other family members all use Android and it wasn’t easy convincing them about my plan for moving my mom away from Android OS. Haha. 🤣
