Need advice on Mountain Lion

People are saying Mountain Lion is relatively stable and actually has better performance than Lion. Plus i'm keen to start using reminders and some other Mountain Lion features...

So i'm thinking I may use it for my primary OS. Thoughts?

Also if I hate it for whatever reason can I go back to Lion, also how will time machine backups work? Will they backup on mountain lion okay? If I want to get a lion file from time machine in ML will this work? Say I went from ML to L would all my backups follow?

Also i'm creating a seperate partition for ML now (8GB) and disk utility has had the same progress (shrinking drive, 1/3 of the way done) for about half an hour. If it's worth using it as primary OS (looking for answers) can I cancel it half way through, no harm done?

Do whatever you like. I myself am using ML as my primary OS, and despite the small bugs and whatnot, I have still not booted into Lion since I installed DP2. I won't remove my Lion partition until ML is released to the public, but that's just me.

i was running DP2 of mountain lion but i returned to lion for afew reasons

1. wireless network would crash would be unable to get a connection back
2. it had a habbit of me having to force shutdown my macbook pro due to something going wrong
3. it would not keep my wallpaper when ever i rebooted.
for me to have restored back to lion was the most difficult process ever.... i attempted internet recovery but it booted into mountain lion recovery and would not let me delete my boot partition to be able to use internet recovery for lion dont know why, so i was forced to boot off my mac os x snow leopard recovery disk to get it to a state where i could do an internet recovery... unless u r willing to put up with all these kinds off issues u may or may not face go for it.... its pritty fun to play with.

The same goes for me. I simply haven't encountered the problems others have had, so perhaps they are hardware unique and third-party software specific issues.

It'sa Developer Preview, you don't know what bugs are lurking. Some people are apparently fine and some aren't. And some say it's fine and live with the issues that Mountain Lion has. It all depends on what software you are running. Another thing to consider is if your daily activities (business/school/whatever) depends on that computer.

I would strongly recommend not interrupting it. Unless and until someone says they've done this and had no ill effects.
