Apologies if this was recently posted and I missed it, but:

I have a brand new Macbook at home with me-- I used the setup assistant to migrate all my settings from my iBook. I was able to connect to my home wireless network-- but neither of my browsers (safari, firefox) can load any content. Firefox was able to load one or two sites, but 'quit unexpectedly' shortly thereafter.

I am unable to access the iTunes store, software update, or send bug reports to Apple!

Comcast is my IP, using the motorola surfboard modem, connected to a netgear wgt624v.3. My iBook and my mac mini are still able to connect (which is how I am writing this post!), and as far as I can tell, the settings on my macbook are exactly the same as on my iBook-- only it won't connect to the internet.

When I use network diagnostics, it tells me that it appears that I am connected normally.

I'm bummed! Thanks in advance if anyone has any advice!

man that must be frustrating...try running the apple hardware test (put in CD 1 and hold down "d" while booting up). If that doesn't find anything...it's probably a software problem. If nobody knows the answer, check out apple's discussion forum or go to an apple store and ask a genius (or call apple tech support).

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Thanks for the reply, queshy--- it's clearly a problem with my router (i think), seeing as the MB is now working perfectly fine on the wifi network at my office.

So, I may wrestle a bit with netgear, or might just plunk down for an airport extreme and call it a day...

Thanks again1

There's a reputed bug with Macbooks, OS X 10.4.10, and Airport connectivity when the Macbook is on battery.

This may not be your problem, but just in case, if when it's working you are on AC and when you are having problems you're on battery, then you might have this (currently unfixed airport driver) problem.

The other thing I would check is that you have the latest firmware for your Netgear.
