Hi... Im looking for an app that can read multiple video files. I basically download video from security systems to a flash drive and wanted to see if my pro would make my life easier by making sure video was transfered to flash drive correctly and watching it in the field. These different security systems all use differnt video files on their DVR's so I need an app that can play a bunch of obscure ones. Thanks for any help!

It might not be an obscure video codac, but more of a proprietary format to the security company. When I have received CCTV footage from banks or other companies, I usually get a disk that has a player on it that allows me to view and take screen shots of the video. I am not saying that is the case here, but that has been my experience in the past when dealing with security companies and banks.

If that is the case, you probably won't find anything that will play the videos.

VLC is my go to for playing most anything.

Only if they have an "app" for iOS or Android will it work on a mobile platform. We have not come across any that have. That doesn't mean they are not out there, but we haven't come across any. Mainly it has been for either Windows or a Linux box which I find odd since most organizations are Windows based and we have even had some that require a network access for authentication. You would think banks and the like would want to make it a little easier for folks to obtain the information contained in their files. What is even more concerning is a lot of the places I have had to request this information, you would think Branch A would have the same system as Branch B. That is not always the case, or if hotel C would have the same system as hotel B which is the same company as hotel C. Can be very frustrating.

Good info, thanks... I was hoping the pro could do this
