I'm in Munich right now and flying home to SC in 2.5 weeks.

I will be buying an iPhone when I get home. However, right now I don't have the money to pay for my own phone plan and my brother will let me jump on his plan to use his rollover minutes while I am looking for a fulltime job. I have, however, saved money for an iPhone (originally just wanted a Touch).

So, my question: if I buy a brand-new iPhone, will I be able to properly unlock it and throw in my SIM card and thus use all its features except for EDGE (no data plan on my SIM card)? Then, when I have some steady income, can I set it back to normal and start from scratch as a normal subscriber?

I'm sure this has been asked many times, but I really need some confirmation (or denial). Thanks a lot!

Yes, you can. Not to promote laziness, overly, so I'll let you do the searching for the methods. ZiPhone seems to be most popular and is quite easy.

What a warm welcome! Thanks for telling what I needed to hear! Cheers!
