I'll try to keep this post brief; I can certainly give many more details if someone here might be able to give me a hand with this.
After weeks of searching for a program that will fit my needs (to no avail, of course), I've started considering hiring a programmer to design something that will get the job done right.
To sum up my situation, I'm working with a local cable company to launch a new, local station. For the most part, we're going to run a local news loop (updated daily); we'll also be throwing in the occasional high school sports game. I need a way to play out the video on the station.
At the most basic level, I need a program that will allow me to create a looping playlist (the news loop) and modify it while it's running -- add, remove, or rearrange clips. While that (primary) playlist is running, I need the ability to create and schedule separate playlists to air at a later time. These playlists should either play out to the computer's secondary monitor or via FireWire to a DV>analog converter. (My only concern with using the secondary monitor is accidentally getting the cursor or another window on air)
Because the playout computer will be located at the cable company's headend, I need a way to control it from my office via the internet. (The cable company is giving me a dedicated, Static IP connection at the headend.)
Those are the basics of what I need. There are some more advanced features I'd like, but I can get into those on the off chance anyone might be willing to tackle this project. Of course, it's a paying job. Any interested programmers -- please PM me a quote.
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to put together a solution for me! =)
