I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my unlocked/jailbroken phone to 2.02 last night.

I have a 2g 114 iPhone previously I used iLiberty+ to unlock/jailbreak, and have been using with tmobile.

I am running win vista and downloaded winpwn 2.5 beta (the most current available)

Also updated itunes to 8 which may have been a mistake in retrospect after more reading.

Followed instructions from http://sleepers.net/2008/08/29/winpwn-25-guide-released/

Started with Basic Mode but Iphone crashed when going into DFU mode.
Did some reading and tried to use the quickpwn option in WinPwn as the custom .ispw file had been built, but it did not do anything.
(It showing that it was jailbreaking iphone/ipod and the winpwn logo was up on my iphone for about 20 minutes, but then the phone returned to the original activation screen that prompts you to activate via itunes. I let it run another 20 minutes and nothing, so I restarted the process.

Nothing.

Another forum was discussing the process and they said if you have the custom .ispw file you can do a shift +click restore in itunes and it would work, but itunes did not recognize the ispw as valid and did restore.

I tried placing iphone in DFU mode so itunes would recognize it as iphone in recovery -- still didn't work.

now itunes will not recognize my iphone at all -- says ipod update cannot be reached.

I went back to winpwn and tried to start process again in expert mode -- resized my partition to 700mbs to fix the crash problem. It crashed again.

So any suggestions? Should I uninstall itunes 8 and reinstall 7.7?

Will give it a shot

Downloading the files now, so we'll see if it works. At least I got itunes to recognize my phone -- that video you posted helped :)

yay!

QuickPwn worked great! so much easier than fighting with WinPwn.

Downloaded all files and followed instructions on iclarified!

Thanks for the suggestion!:D
