Hello! My grandparents broke their 24in Imac's monitor and it needs a replacement, costing around 800+ dollars. I was wondering if it was possible to operate it with a second monitor and have that one be the main computers display. Is it as simple as connecting the second display or do I have to disconnect the internal monitor? I'm not worried of opening up the computer, its not like I can damage the screen :) Thanks for your help!

edit: The Imac is out of warranty and is a 2007 or 2008 model. 2.4GHZ C2D 4GB Ram. If you need any more info just let me know

If the LCD was everything that broke, then you should be able to use an external monitor though it may be tricky. You could look for an LCD on eBay and then replace it yourself, will cost less
