I have tried out a bunch of them already and still just cannot find one to solve my needs. 'Things' comes close but still is missing a few crucial needs.
Most of the apps I have tried that follow a 'GTD' structure have most of the common feature sets.
setting reminders, email notifications, wireless sync (for a fee in some cases) project framework, password protected private lists etc. Most all the features you would normally expect and use.
The three missing features for it to be useful to me.
1. Must have a desktop interface/component which allows the creation and manipulation of tasks, todo's, projects, reminders, calendars, notifications etc. There must be a PC and Mac equivalent that will work in unison with the iphone. (my work machine is a PC, iphone is currently sync'd to my personal mac). It must be able to wirelessly sync to both machines. If I can only create tasks and todo's, manage their progress and manipulate them into larger projects, break them out into individual tasks or the like from a tiny keyboard, it is counter productive to me. Do not want to have to sync to three different apps and then to some cloud somewhere, changing formats etc.
2. Must be able to attach and associate files from the desktop client to any event created, pdf's, excel, etc.
3. Must not cost an arm and a leg. 'Things' is great if you don't mind spending 60 dollars US for the iphone and mac apps. There is no PC equivalent. If there was I would buy them all and be done with it as long as it wasn't a hundred bucks!
4. It also cannot be so involved and feature overloaded that it becomes more about creating the tasks than getting anything done.
Here is the list of apps I have either tried or currently own
2Do (own but have only used once)
Awesome note (own and use occasionally}
ToDo's
ToDo List
Nubi Do lite
I have researched don't forget the milk, toodledo, omni and others but there is only one that has a desktop companion: Things and it still doesn't meet my needs.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
