Hi guys

The most horrible thing just happened ... a key on my perfect 2014 13" custom bought macbook pro died with 16 gb rams, 500 gb ssd died!

I tried to clean the key while it still worked a little.
Took the key of, and the rubber cup thing felt off ... I cleaned a little with a dry cuetip... and after that I can no longer activate the key / contact ... not with a nail, screwdriver or anything ... I put the rubber cup back assembeled the key ... and mechanically it does what is should... but no words at all ... it's dead

Getting it repeared seems very expensive (and really time consuming) ... so I have bid on some used options for a replacement machine.

If it goes trough I have to make the chooise between these two beast ... basically at the same price.

The machine have to be my daily driver next to my 27" imac.

Choises:

1) Macbook 2015 13", 2,9 ghz i5, 16 gb ram, 500 gb ssd, battery have run 519 Cyklus<= it's almost identical to my old one, except one generation newer ... and I loved this machine ... the keyboard and build and function keys and backlight especially.

2) Macbook 2017 13", 3,5 ghz dual core i7, 1TB Flash, 16 gb ram. It's said to be in very good kondition. <= now I fear for this keyboard and the build overall?

Personally, I wouldn't buy any MacBook with a butterfly keyboard. Just too much chance of problems down the road. I bought an older MBA for my limited travel because it had replaceable battery and SSD along with scissors keyboard. I don't need a lot of power when on the road. At home my M1 iMac has far more power than I need.

Thank you man, this made me decide to stay with the 2013-2015 models.

Now the new problem arrive.

I can only find 2015 models with 8 gb ram.
I can find a 2013 model with 16 gb of ram.

I was very happy with my 2014 before it broke ... and also think I will move over the SSD anyways from it.
