Just picked up a used 12.9 3rd gen and cannot change keyboard. I want the simplified version but don’t know how to change it out. Help anyone?

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear possible on your model iPad. See this article:

The new key flicking feature is available for almost all iPads that are able to run iOS 11, with the exception of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. With the larger iPad Pro model, you won't be able to use key flicks. It is, however, available on all other iPad Pro models, the iPad Air and later, the iPad mini 2 and later, and the 5th generation iPad.

I think that's really dumb to not give the user a choice just because their screen is larger.

Maybe there are third-party software keyboards that do this? I have no idea.

I believe this is the style of keyboard provided for the 12.9" (i.e., the larger space allows for including the extra top row of number keys).
Perhaps owners of 12.9" can confirm

Hi! Maybe you'd like to switch to a different keyboard, like gboard or swiftkey? They're a good choice if you don't like the native one
