Im using an Intel iMac, 2.16ghz Duo Core. I use to use Macromedia Fireworks, but it doesnt work on my intel machine, and obviously Adobe is on its way. Im working on my wedding invitation, i've attached on here a terriffic example of what I want to accomplish. Im looking for advice on what program I should use to achieve this look, and tips on what effects and tricks are used on this. Thanks a ton!

I don't have any advice and can't help you at all.

I just wanted to say that's the most creative idea for a wedding invitation I've ever seen. Good luck with it! :D

Quark / InDesign and Photoshop are what you could do with. Or if you're doing it small or have no money, you'd get away with rasterising it all in the GIMP.

if you are using fireworks png's, say goodbye to layers because according to photoshop, png files don't support layers.

I don't understand this statement.
Placing PNG, JPEG, EPS, TIFF etc... into a PSD layout will always result in a layered PSD file.
The final print file would be saved as flattened CMYK TIFF.

I don't understand this statement.
It's really not an issue unless you want to work on the original layers and shapes embedded in the extended part of the Fireworks PNG. If all you need is the final result, it works just dandy.
