I desperately need to recover some space on my iPhone 6 (iOS 10.2.1). In the manage storage settings it says that there's nearly a gig of email there. I have deleted all emails from inbox, sent items and deleted items but it still tells me there's a gig of email. I must be missing something, any help is much appreciated!!

Did you delete from TRASH? It isn't really gone until trash is deleted. Also - depending upon your mail you might have in Archive if not trash.

BE AWARE deleting email on phone will delete it everywhere so if you access other places be aware of what is happening

Thanks for your reply, yes I've deleted everything from the bin but not sure about archive, where do I find that?

It just lays along with trash.

Besides, I don't know which kind of protocol you use. If you use pop to get your mail, you should consider of using imap or exchange. As the latter two can choose sync days, for example, like 30 days. So the mails within 30 days are kept in your phone and all old mails are on mail server. And you can always query on you phone to look up old mails.

Delete your email accounts and reload. Space will return to normal. The problem is attachments are stored and there is really no way to clear them.
