The movie is 2gb. I know i need to compress it, However when i select the file from the finder it compress it to a zip file that also 2gb. What am i doing wrong?

Most movie file formats are already heavily compressed and therefore do not compress much more with zip. Think of is as trying to compress a zip file.

Apart from bandwidth usage, what are you worried about?

The movie is only 2GB, you have 20GB of iDisk storage space.
