Need help erasing MacBook Air, messed up something

Hi everyone. My girlfriend needs a computer and I have an old MacBook Air that I've since replaced with a 2018 13 inch MBP. So I figured I'd give the old MBA to her. Naturally I wanted to erase that computer and get it ready for her to set up with her iCloud account. I went into disk utility and first erased Bootcamp. I clicked erase on Bootcamp, set the format to MacOS Extended (Journaled), then clicked erase. Then I went into recovery mode and did the same for Macintosh HD. I thought I could just restart and then she could set up the computer like new. I restarted only to see Windows trying to repair itself. I shut down then powered on and held option down so I could boot into MacOS, How

While in recovery mode, after erasing the disk you can quit Disk Utility. Then you'll see a menu of options, one of which is to reinstall the OS. It's all done while you're in recovery mode before you restart.

Yeah, macOS is not installed at this moment, but clearly there are remains of Windows as well, so while what Namara says is true and would reinstall macOS, I recommend going back into Disk Utility first from either Recovery or Internet Recovery, and not just reformatting the volumes, but the whole disk; From the View menu, select to show all drives and volumes, not just volumes, and you can use either the partition or erase menu to wipe the disk before reinstalling macOS like Namara said
