hello. i have an 08 macbook pro that i started my business on 5 years ago. i bought a new iMac and need help getting my printer profiles to be the same as my macbook pro. from the research i've done it looks like the new cs6 isn't considering my old printer settings as compatible so it's not showing them. when i print i need my printer to control the settings. when i have that selected i don't have an option to switch printer profiles. it automatically selects a default printer profile. i need help finding hidden printer profiles and also need to know how to APPLY the correct one so i can have the one i select be my default printer profile (i've tried holding the alt/option key while opening the library from GO in finder). the printer profile i am looking to have is sRGB IEC61966-2.1. this is the printer profile i use on my old computer and it prints the colors i need perfectly. any ideas? i've had a computer guru do it for me before so i know it can be done but i had to reset my photoshop settings a few months back when my wacom tablet went haywire and unfortunately it reset my printer settings. any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

That's a colorsync profile.

The sRGB one should be in /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles.

hello.

i am able to pull up my profiles in color sync but i am unable to find the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 file. is it being hidden? and once i find it, how do i apply it so that it becomes my default printer profile for CS6?

thanks in advance!

sRGB should be installed, either with OS X, or with CS6 (or possibly both).

Are you saying that is it NOT on your new iMac?
Compare the contents of these folder (including aliases and subfolders):
/Library/Colorsync
/System/Library/Colorsync
<user>/Library/Colorsync

There's an sRGB one in:
/Library/Colorsync/Profiles/Profiles/Recommended

Also in /System/Library/Colorsync/Profiles

Or are you simply having trouble setting a colour profile in the InDesign print dialog?

Sometimes, ID won't let you select a profile, and the only option is "Let InDesign determine Color". That is a function of the print queue's PPD.

However: shouldn't you use a profile that describes the printer's colorspace, rather than sRGB there?
