I have Firefox, and I just installed an addon that lets me download videos off YouTube, etc, and convert them into "iPhone" format, which is .m4v. I thought this was great, so I downloaded a video, converted it, the thumbnail in the folder I downloaded it to is an iTunes one, and it says "MPEG4" along with the iTunes logo.
So here's my problem:
I click on the icon, assuming iTunes will play it, nothing happens.
I drag it into my iTunes library, then search for it, and it's not there.
I tried looking up solutions to this, but the only ones I could find are ones where the person managed to get the video into their iTunes library first which I can't do.
I have no idea why iTunes is not picking up this video. I clicked properties, and it says MPEG-4 video file, which is an MP4, I assume, and I have read up that this is the right video file.
So, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. :D:)

Is it possible to provide screenshots?
Also, which software are you using to convert the video?

I believe MP4 and M4V are the same. Try renaming the extension of the file to '.m4v'. It should give you a warning message that the file won't open in the same application; click 'ok'. Then, next time you double-click the file it should open up in iTunes. I believe '.m4v' is just a command to tell the file to open in iTunes -- that's all. Whatever you name it, they're both MP4 files.
