Hello Everyone!
I just moved into my own place and am working on getting my network set back up. I have a Linksys BEFSR41v4 (Wired 4 port router), Cisco 1100 AP (Wireless access point), and Airport Express. I have a cable modem connected to the Linksys router and then my PowerMac G5 and Cisco AP wired to it. Now, I would like to put the AE near my steario and have it connect via the wireless network. I know that the wireless network works because I have two Windows laptops (1 2000 and 1 Xp work/school gave them to me - Win is not my choice) that can connect to it st fine.
Now, for the trouble that I have been having with the AE.....
I reset the AE to factory defaults and then upgraded the firmware to 6.3. Then I used the setup to tell it to join a wireless network. I gave it the SSID and the WPA password. I can see in the AP setup page that the AE connectes, but when set to get an address via DHCP it gets a 168.x.x.x address instead of the 192.x.x.x address like it should. So, I reset it and tried again, but this time manually configured the IP to be 192.168.1.170.
(I also turned the option for iTunes over eathernet)
Now, when I connected back to my Cisco AP I can see the AE in the airport admin tool, but iTunes can not see it. Going into the admin tool I can't connect to it and get an error -6753. After about 5 minutes the admin tool can not find the AE even if I click rescan.
Any ideas how to get this to work? I had it workig at my old house, but that was wirth a different AP and a different version of Firmware on the AE.
Thank you so much in adcance for any help you can provide.
Doug
