Lately I've been remember an old Mac game I played back at school around 2001, but I can't for the life of me remember the name so I wondered if someone here might be able to help me out.
It's a puzzle game that involves taking a group (20-30 or so IIRC) of funny little creatures through a series of puzzles to safety. The creatures that make is successfully through 3-6 random puzzles, then make it to the town they are trying to build where they somethings add buildings and stuff. The creatures have a name, but I can't remember it and I think the name of the creatures might be the name of the game. I also think the name starts with 'P', but I could be wrong. Each creature also has distinctive features, like hair style, hair colour etc, which are used in some of the puzzles.
Some of the puzzles I can recall are...
(1) You arrive at an inn just as night is falling and the innkeeper tells you to sort yourselves into rooms before night falls. You then need to figure out which of the creatures features (hair style etc) is used to group the creatures into rooms by trying to put them into rooms and seeing which succeed and which fail. E.g. if it's a hair colour, then all the creatures with black hair need to go in the same room. Try to put a second one in a different room, and it will fail. You only get a limited number of failures (~5 IIRC) before the puzzle is over.
(2) You come to a raft and the boatman asks you to seat yourself, and again I believe one or more of the creatures features is used to determine which creatures are allowed to sit next to each other.
(3) You arrive at a cave with a deep chasm and you need to choose to sent a creature one of 2 or 3 ways to get across. There are pitfalls they might fall into which would mean they don't make it across, or switches they will trigger that will change the path. You need to find the correct pattern to allow them to keep avoiding the pitfalls.
Oh yeah, one other thing I can remember is that any creatures that fails to make it through a puzzle, even the cave puzzle, are never dead. You are told that they always return to start and are waiting for you the next time you start a new journey.
Can anyone remember what this game is called based on my fuzzy memories of it???
