Hi guys,

I have a problem here... Few months back, I had someone to help me to JB my iPhone (ver 2.1). For some reasons, it was unable to backup my personal data through iTunes and I believed it was because of the JB issue as the guy did some minor modify to it.

I wish to be able to backup my data from my iPhone to the iTunes. What can I do? Is it possible to choose update (to upgrade my firmware to 2.2.1) from the iTunes and my current data including messages and contacts will still remain there?

Thank you,
noob here

Everything (sms, contacts etc....legit iphone stuff) will remain and be backed up and saved in itunes.

For backing up all your jailbroken data, you will have to use AptBackup in cydia:

1. Click backup in AptBackup (the app).

2. Sync+Backup in ITUNES, this is where the apps settings (cough* your data) are saved.

3. DO whatever your doing (I geuss jailbreaking to 2.2.1, which you would have to restore), and when you restore etc etc jailbroke etc etc it will say restore from backup, choose the backup you just did (which has the settings) and after that, all your sms, contacts, music etc etc (after sync) will be there.

4. Assuming you have cydia installed, go install AptBackup, open it and click restore (it will take idk how long, but just be patient it isn't THAT long). For me it recovered about 80% of all my stuff, and whatever was left I just reinstalled myself, didn't have much stuff though.

Ok there all your stuff legit+jailbroken are back :) hope I kinda helped.

Thanks ZebraineZ!

So I can just update to 2.2.1 and and my contacts and sms still be inside? I don't mind if the *cough data are lost...
