when i try to power up
i get the *connect charger logo
whats the prob?
battery

cord
thx.

What happens if you connect it to power? Does it charge? Can you power up?

hi. thank you
i plug in will try another cord
nothing but the black screen and flashing batt symbol
i was able to boot up but for 3 min.
i think pressing the cord hard helps but am not sure.

how can i tell if its port or battery

Hard to say for sure. You should definitely try a different cable and perhaps even charger. You should also try cleaning out the charging port on the phone as sometimes things get stuck inside and can interfere with the cable and charging. Leave the phone plugged in for a little while and see if it's powering on and charging then. If not, it can be the battery (or potentially something like the port).

If it works better when pressing the cord there's indeed a high chance that you have a lot of dust in the lightning port. Try to GENTLY clean it with a toothpick, be careful to not damage the port.

Ditto the check the port for impacted lint. Embarrassingly had that happen to me when took my old 6 to Apple Store thinking something else going on: Genius took his SIM ejector and pulled out a giant glob of lint. The old 30-pin connectors were more obvious when this would occur, so, made for "easier" self diagnostic.

Once a month, I take some canned air to the port and the speaker holes (those might be more obvious to get a guess on lint in the Lightning port). Also a soft (old usedj toothbrush across the bottom to help get stuff out.
