Need Help: iPhone not working after update

I updated my iPhone 5s a few days ago and now my phone isn't working. My mail won't open, I can't send or receive texts, and I can't take pictures. All other apps are sporadic at best. I keep getting a message that my storage is full but when I try to delete anything, it either won't delete at all or will delete for a short time and then be back the next time I restart my phone. I have attempted to backup with iTunes and iCloud but iTunes says there is not enough space to sync and iCloud crashes. Please help! TIA

Plug it to itunes and hit restore.

If I don't have a recent backup will I lose everything?

Turn off iCloud backup.
Back it up to your local itunes library and then restore.
And stop filling it up to the max.

iCloud backup was always off. It won't let me turn it on. Still can't get it to backup on iTunes either.

Then just restore it and hope your most recent itunes backup has most of your stuff saved.
