Hi everyone.
I just got a Mac mini 2010 and I would like to use it as a server. I’m gonna run some tasks that eats memory so looking for memory upgrade.
Now as I know the machine is able to handle 2x 8GB 1067Mhz sticks, but those are nearly impossible to be found there. So I’m wondering if a 4GB 1067 and a 8GB 1333 will work. Or it can handle 2x 1333?
Thank you for replying and I apologize for my poor English.

The MCP89 (chipset in the 2010 mini) is extraordinarily fussy when it comes to memory speed.

It will work if at least one SODIMM runs at 1066MHz, however with two faster sticks, you won’t have very much luck.

On my own MCP89 Mac, it simply won’t POST unless one stick is 1066.

If you will be doing memory-intensive tasks, you’ll want to be running in dual-channel, so will need 2x 1066MHz sticks.

Thank you for your advice. For best performance and stability I ordered 2x 4GB 1066 sticks. Maybe upgrade one day if I can find cheap 8GB 1066.

About MCP89, I’ve seen a screenshot of a Mac mini 2010 running at 1333 so that’s pretty weird…
