Was wondering if anyone here could help recommend a great app or something safe to open SLDPRT files

For SOLIDWORKS files on macOS, you have pretty much two options. Dassault's own eDrawings standalone application (DL the app from their website and not the buggy MAS version) is IMO the lesser of the two options. I'd use Autodesk's online Autodesk Viewer, for which you'll need a no-cost account - Autodesk's cloud server viewer platform is pretty powerful IMO, and it does allow for viewing of uploaded SLDPRT files.

Does Autodesk have an app by any chance? Seems like a lot of stuff out there is either buggy or not safe.

Thanks for kind reply

Their related app is iOS only. Autodesk has had a cloud computing platform for around a decade, it's like AWS - pros can rent CPU/RAM resources, and they provide free services to the educational and maker industries. Their Fusion 360 platform uses the same cloud servers, it's not just the macOS platform that gets this treatment - Windows and Linux get the same options. I use their cloud computing platform via Fusion 360 and it's slick - the MAS and Autodesk "app" is really just a wrapper for their cloud platform.

No apps from Autodesk AFAIK, I would have mentioned it. I've been an Autodesk customer for almost 30 years now... I'd still recommend the Autodesk option over Dassault's viewer option even though I prefer the latter's SW for real work.

Thanks again for kind reply. I am working on a new product and the engineer that is helping me design it sent me a bunch of files to see prototype of item. The problem was I was unable to view those files or find anything safe to view them. I do have an iPad and iPad as well. What would be the easiest way to view them the ..? Via iPhone,iPad or MacBook Pro?

I think I've addressed how best to view SOLIDWORKS files with a "free" option, there really aren't any other options other than using one of Dassault's paid applications. The eDrawings application is from Dassault, the creator of SOLIDWORKS - I own several licenses of this app, an owner of a small engineering firm. I don't know how many CALs of Autodesk apps are in my company, I've been using their products since 1989 - their cloud portal is secure. I really don't know of anyone else that can help you out with what you're looking for. Cheers.
