Need help patching Madden 08 please!

Hi guys, a friend of mine has a MAC and needs assistance patching up Madden 08 so me and him (I have PC) can play against each other.

He has Madden 08 for it and I believe his OS is Leopard and has gone here to get the patch:

Ok so I don't know much about Macs, but I do know this is some type of archived file and then on the PC at least I can unzip this thing which gets me a .tar file, I unzip that, I get another tgz file, I unzip that..etc..etc... eventually I get to a folder structure that he does NOT see on his Mac when following the same steps.

He does end up with a .APP file that is about 4 MBs large. When he tries to just run that file he gets the following message:

"You can't apply the patch on this file"
Please Re-install.

So yeah, can anyone shed a light on the problem or perhaps list the steps to actually patch this thing? On the PC I'd tell him to put that in the madden folder before running it, but not sure if that's even applicable on the Mac.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Did he reinstall the game from disk and then try running the patch? Sounds like either a mis-matched version (ie: he had already patched), or like he tried to patch the game from the CD directly.

Note that there's another patch that should be downloaded automatically once 942 is installed.

He got it working after a re-install.

Now the issues are with the controller, he's trying to use the xbox 360 wired controller which I mainly recommended because the receivers would actually have the correct colored icons above hteir heads as opposed to numbers, but it seems as if that's not going to work very well on the Mac.

Having a heck of a time trying to configure it.

The Xbox 360 wired controller doesn't have an official driver on the Mac. Last time I tried the unofficial driver, there were several issues with it. That was a while ago though.

I'd recommend a Logitech controller for Madden.

For your other question about where to put custom files, look in your Home Directory, then navigate to Library/Preferences/Madden 08 Preferences/p_drive/My Documents/Madden NFL 08
