Hi, folks! I just upgraded to a pimped-out MacBook Pro (wooooo!), and my 2-year-old Mac mini (G4) is going to get a new home this Christmas with a wonderful, deserving family that doesn't have the financial means to buy a computer.

I need to buy a monitor to send with it, as I'm keeping my 20" Cinema. I know next to nothing about adapters, resolutions, blah blah blah... so I turn to you. It doesn't need to be big, and I'd like to spend under $200.

Ideas? Links?

(Oh yeah - it's a plus if I can get it from Amazon, as I have Prime shipping.)

You should have no problem finding a very nice monitor in the $160-$180
price range -- anywhere from 17" to 20" (there's surprisingly little variation
in price for monitors of different sizes within that range).

Acer and Hanns-G both have good reps for value/reliability, and most models
are TCO-certified (for visual quality/ergonomics) and carry 3-year warranties.
Be sure to select a resolution that's compatible with the G4 graphics card; if
you need help with that, just ask.

Check http://newegg.com for good prices and informative customer reviews.
Their customers tend to be much more tech-savvy and clue-full than the average
amazon.com reviewer. Newegg is entirely reliable -- on a par with amazon.

Amazon and Newegg carry many of the same products, and the price advantage
can go either way. Usually, one or the other will be very close to the best price
available from any reputable online vendor.

good luck,

LK

I have a 15" NEC LCD in nice shape that I'll give you free for this cause, I just need you to cover shipping. Probably $10 to $15. Could ship it Friday, let me know.

(Offer limited to folks like Cleo who are doing a good deed. I'm not shipping it to someone so that they can eBay it!).
