Someone please tell me how to do this ASAP! I just started running QuickPwn on my windows pc to JB my iPhone 3g 2.2.........so I'm at the screen telling me to browse to find my IPSW file and I have NO idea where to find it! The phone is brand new so it came with OS 2.2! I never had to update the software! So how can I find it? I am not technologically advanced at all so please answer in laments terms and as quick as possible! I'm afraid to screw up my phone!

C'mon, you guys are usually great (and quick) with the responses! I know this is probably a real dumb and sort of newbie question to some of you guys but I'm really stuck! And after researching immensely on jailbreaking I've finally decided to do it and now I can't!

Not to sound like a putz here, but you might want to read a tutorial before jumping in. :) You need to download the firmware so that Quickpwn can alter it so you can load it. if you have no firmware, it can't load anything...

Ok....I don't wanna sound like a putz either, but you mean even though I already have the 2.2 firmware, I have to download it anyways just so QuickPwn can find it from somewhere? Okay then I'll give that a try and let you know how I make out. Any other little tidbits I should know? Thanks for the help everybody.

You don't, really; you can just use the one you already have. It's under... let me see if I can remember...

Macintosh HD/Users/yourname/Library/iTunes/iPhone (iPod for iPod) Software Updates

And it's in that folder. Just access that from within QuickPwn when it asks for a firmware, and you should be good to go!

Let me add that in Windows, all I did the first time, when I didn't know where the file was, was search for "*.ipsw" on my hard drive. Surely a Mac has a similar function?

Oh, and if you updated to 2.2 after you bought your iPhone, the firmware will be on your hard drive, but if your iPhone came with 2.2 preinstalled, it won't be on your hard drive, and you'll have to download it from somewhere.

I have Windows not Mac. And yes, my phone just came with 2.2 firmware. I never did any type of upgrade or download at all. So there's no way to pull it up for QuickPwn I guess, huh? I'll HAVE TO do an upgrade even though I don't technically need it, right?
